I live in Winston-Salem with my husband and our two boys, ages thirteen and nine, whom I affectionately refer to here as "the oldest" and "the youngest". My late father was a native of this city, and my late mother was a graduate of Salem College. After they married, they moved to Washington, DC, where I grew up, was married, and started my own family. Eight years ago, I dragged them south and introduced them to backyard muscadines, the Dixie Classic Fair, and Moravian sugarcakes. They promptly declared Winston-Salem "home".
