Local Attention Shoppers

The next time you're at Costco or Lowes or the Teeter or wherever, please consider picking up an item for the Winston-Salem Street School (415 W. Clemmonsville).

Winston-Salem Street School is a private high school that offers hope to a group of students who have little or no hope. The students being served include those who have dropped out or been expelled from the public high school system in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County.

Approximately 800 students drop out of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Schools each year and that number is rising. The Winston-Salem Street School was specifically created to target these students. By doing so, it is playing a critical role in resolving this very real community problem.

Last year the WSSS successfully graduated 21 students. This year the students are in need of:

Toilet paper
Paper towels
Kleenex
Copy paper
Pencils
Pens
Trash bags
Bread
Peanut Butter
Jelly
Fruit
Crackers
Healthy frozen meals
Plastic utensils
Styrofoam bowls
Paper plates
