Phonophoto of the day

"The Cash House"
1903 Sunnyside
now part of UNCSA

My great grandfather built this house and raised his family here. Then my maiden great-aunts, Mary and Lois Cash, owned this house near on forever. At one point one of them married, but (as the family story goes) she missed her sister too much and so returned home.

When I was small, this is where I stayed when we came to Winston-Salem to visit my grandmother. There was an enormous English-style garden to the left of the house that they owned as well, and I liked to pretend it was my Secret Garden.
