Some of my favorite seasonal decorations are small, framed Christmas cards of Old Salem collected by my grandmother, the original Lucy Cash. She herself was born in the 1800s, a fact which boggled my young mind in the 1970s.
Three generations later, my children love looking at them, recognizing landmarks (the water pump, Mommy!) and pointing out little details like the snowman at the right edge. And one day the oldest's grandchildren will themselves boggle at the fact that he was born in the 1900s.
