Mill Town

Tuesday, September 29th at 7 PM in Annenerg Forum, Carswell Hall, there will be a screening of Oakdale Cotton Mills: Close-Knit Neighbors, a documentary about a way of life for textile mill workers that was once common in the Southeast but is rapidly fading away. Located in Jamestown, NC, Oakdale Mills is the oldest continuously operating cotton mill in the country.

This event is free and open to the public.

Her family later moved to Hanes Town, where as a teenager she met Fred Snow. Their courtship began when he saw her sitting on the porch shining her Daddy’s shoes and he asked if she would shine his, too. They were married on March 2, 1946. Their marriage resulted in three children, nine grandbabies, 18 great-grandbabies, and countless happy memories.
