Remembering Lillie Boyte

Chris was with the Boytes in the hospital room the day they received the news that their sweet Lillie had a dreadful disease and the outlook was grim. Since then Dr. Chris has continued his work in the adult cancer world but constantly thinks of all the “Lillies” out there that need help…need hope…need a cure.

Yesterday, Dr. Chris Thomas, a Winston-Salem oncologist, ran his first marathon, the SunTrust Richmond Marathon. He ran in memory of Winston's own Lillie Boyte, who sadly lost her battle with Neuroblastoma in August of 2007 at the age of three. Along the way, Dr. Thomas raised $1000 toward a new foundation that the Boyte family is starting. Called Lillie's Friends Foundation, it will fund Neuroblastoma awareness and research and hopefully go far toward raising the survival rate.
