Green is the New Green

There is a wonderful compilation (with quite a lot of original content- swoon) in today's Winston-Salem Journal about "going green" in the home and garden. We've always been decently crunchy in our house, but recently we've gotten a little bit crunchier.

1. We've started replacing incandescent bulbs in many of our light fixtures with compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs). The change in light color has been a bit of an adjustment (especially when applying make-up) even with the new yellow-tinted CFLs. I'm also a little concerned about the fact that they contain mercury and how this impacts the protocol if a CFL breaks. Overall though, it's been a fairly easy change.

2. Recently these curious, compostable cups made of corn (!!!) went on sale at Harris Teeter, so we're giving them a try.
