Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, Kids Voting NC, and the Forsyth County Board of Elections are coordinating a civic initiative for students to be a part of this year’s Presidential primary season. Although North Carolinian voters will not take to the polls until May 6, this opportunity will allow K-12 students to have their voices heard before then.
Students will be able to vote either at school, or at home, on February 5th between 6:30 AM and 7:30 PM by logging onto www.kidsvotingnc.org, clicking on the "Super Duper Presidential Poll icon", selecting their county and school, and selecting their choice of presidential candidates.
I always take the oldest with me when I vote, which surprisingly isn't at his elementary school but at another one entirely. The last time I took him, the voting turnout was so abysmal that the Precinct Judge had ample time to explain the whole process to him. It was pretty much the same explanation I had given him, minus the conspiracy theories and mentions of "those right-wing devils".
The above poster is taped up in our hall, much to the delight of my GOP husband.
